      Loofah Sponge

The loofah sponge is an herbal product, completely ecological, that helps in the deep cleansing of the skin, removing dead cells and enhancing good blood circulation.

It comes from a tropical, ornamental plant that looks like a pumpkin (Luffah aegyptiaca) and is a distant cousin of the cucumber. The fruit grows and after being cut, it is dried in order to be peeled and give the final shape of the sponge.

In its final form, Luffah Sponge is hard on the outside and softens with the use of soap and water. Its shape allows air to pass through its fibers, making it antifungal and ideal for cleansing the skin.

It is a 100% herbal product, without toxic and chemical substances, and maintains its hypo-allergic properties, making it an ideal solution for sensitive skin.

Wet the sponge with warm water to soften the fiber or wet it slightly, if you want it to stay dry and rough.

Add a bubble bath, which is absorbed faster by the wet loofah and makes a rich lather, or add soap, rubbing it on its surface, until enough foam is created.

Gently massage the skin, in a circular, steady motion, for a gentle exfoliation throughout the body. Do your back, arms, legs and ankles, without ignoring sensitive areas, such as the armpits, where your movements should be smoother.

Luffah Sponge is a Greek product, produced exclusively by hedgie.gr! The production and care, at every stage, are closely monitored by us, focusing on the high quality of the final product.

It is 100% biodegradable, ecological and, both its production and use, do not burden the environment and the atmosphere.

      Info

      + - Loofah benefits

The loofah is known for its exfoliating properties. A natural sponge, which provides excellent, chemical-free, handmade exfoliation.

      • Hyperemia develops and the skin prepares to receive and absorb any product, as much as possible.
      • Removes oily skin, fights cellulite (due to hyperemia), softens the heels and elbows and leaves the skin clean and soft.
      • It can also help in areas where there is acne (e.g. back) but also on the face with very gentle and soft movement.

+ - What loofah to choose

Choose a smooth and soft loofah for your face and neck and a harder one for your body and legs.

The texture of the loofah is dry, but when wet, it becomes soft and pliable.

      + - Use

To enjoy the properties of the loofah to the maximum you can follow the following steps:

For cellulite: On dry skin, before a shower, massage in circular and upward movements from the ankle to the hip. Continue to the abdomen, making circles around the navel.

Then wet the loofah. The warm water will soften the fiber of the loofah and it will be more friendly to your skin. If you want it to stay dry and rough, you can wet it slightly before bathing.

Put soap or shower gel. If you decide to use a bubble bath, it is absorbed faster from a wet loofah and makes a rich foam.

Gently massage the body. Rub your skin lightly, gently and firmly in a circular motion. Start with the neck and chest and slowly exfoliate the rest of the body (arms, legs, ankles).

Massage in circular movements is more effective for removing dead cells and caring for the skin than rubbing up and down.

Greater attention to the face: you can also use the loofah on the face, but you need to make gentle movements, because the skin is more sensitive. Gentle massaging with circular movements is also more effective here.

Rinse with cool water. This will close your pores and make you feel more refreshed. But if you are preparing for sleep or relaxation, rinse with warm water.

      + - Care

Rinse loofah well after each use, drain it thoroughly and hang it to dry. When rinsing, use warm, clean water and make sure there is no foam or soap left. Soap that stays in the loofah may start to smell.

Dry it completely in a place without moisture, in order to prevent the formation of bacteria.

Clean it once a week. You can boil your loofah for a few minutes or put it with your towels in the washing machine, to kill any bacteria that may grow. Regardless of the method you use, it is a good idea to disinfect it once a week to make sure it remains suitable for use.

Replace your loofah every three weeks. After 20 days the loofah fibers begin to decompose and break due to its use and disinfection.

If you have not disinfected your loofah, it is not safe to use after three weeks. Either way, it’s time to replace your loofah sponge.
